Watercolours are created on acid free, high quality paper. They are mounted but not framed. Mount dimensions are detailed on the individual images. Just click on an image for a slideshow. See “About” for my inspirations.
All watercolour paintings are original. They often act as starting points for oil paintings, those that turn out well I mount on acid free mounts. Dimensions for mounts can be found when if you click on an image and these can be changed to fit the size of your choice of frame.
Often seen as the “easy option” watercolours can be an extremely difficult medium to work with. Due to the speed the medium dries once a mark is made it is hard to erase or paint over. However, like any tool, with practice it will be mastered and used to great effect in all genre of painting. Advantages are that “mistakes” that cannot be erased must be built into the painting often leading the piece in an entirely, spontaneous new direction which appeals to my style of working.
At the risk of repeating myself much of my work is inspired by the things I see around me. When I am out walking, just like almost everyone else I have a camera phone in my pocket and take photos of things that interest me. Images I find particularly engaging you will fairly soon see on my Instagram (@carolineww_art) start to emerge as a painting, either in oil or watercolours.
